Skiing in front of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau
The winter paradise in front of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau offers skiers and snowboarders everything their heart desires: gentle pistes, steep slopes, snow and fun parks, race tracks and powder.
Discover the highlights of the Jungfrau ski region on this 3-day tour from Grindelwald.
Day 1: Ski area Grindelwald – Wengen
The first day of skiing starts in the ski area Grindelwald-Wengen, which is the largest ski area in the Jungfrau Region with 103 kilometres of slopes. It also offers plenty of variety for a longer stay. Your day starts in Grindelwald Terminal, the most modern terminal in the Alps with a direct railway connection, where the 10-seater gondola takes you to Männlichen or the Eiger Express tricable gondola to the Eiger Glacier - and right into the heart of the ski area. You can also hire your ski equipment at the terminal if you don't have your own.
The ski area connects Grindelwald with Wengen and can therefore also be reached by cable car or train from Wengen. The International Lauberhorn Races take place in Wengen in mid-January.
Enjoy your first day of skiing on the slopes or on the sun terraces of the restaurants before the descent on slope 22 takes you back down to the valley.
After the descent, head straight to the après-ski in the Grindelwald Terminal, where the ‘After Slopes Sounds’ takes place every Saturday.
Day 2: Adventure at the ski area Grindelwald-First
The second day of skiing also starts in Grindelwald, but on the other side of the village. The First aerial cable car takes you comfortably to the Grindelwald-First ski area in just under half an hour. Here, 56 kilometres of slopes and a snow park await you, and it is not without reason that this ski area is also known as a freestyle Eldorado.
There is also plenty to experience off-piste if you need a break from skiing. The First Cliff Walk is a circular summit trail at lofty heights at the First mountain station, the highlight of which is a viewing platform that extends 45 metres into the void. Thrills and breathtaking views guaranteed!
If you need even more adrenalin, we recommend a flight with the First Glider or the First Flyer. Both activities are included in the ski pass. There are therefore no additional costs.
End your day's skiing with the descent into the valley and a stop at the Bus Stop Bar. The bar in the vintage bus guarantees an unmistakable atmosphere and the best hot mojito.
Day 3: Skiing and the Top of Europe
In the Jungfrau Ski Region, there is also plenty to discover off-piste, which is why today starts with an excursion without skis. It starts again at the Grindelwald terminal, where the Eiger Express takes you to the Eiger Glacier station. Here you can conveniently deposit your ski equipment and change to the Jungfrau Railway - a construction of the century. The route leads through a seven-kilometre tunnel through the Eiger and Mönch to the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe. At 3,545 metres above sea level, the terminus is the highest railway station in Europe.
Here you can visit the Ice Palace, enjoy a fantastic view of the Aletsch Glacier or discover the Snow Fun Park. Before you leave the Jungfraujoch behind you, a meal awaits you in one of the restaurants.
Refreshed and energised, take the train back to the Eiger Glacier and enjoy the afternoon on the slopes of the Grindelwald-Wengen ski area. Why not conquer the original route of the infamous Lauberhorn descent? However, this tip is only for experienced skiers.
If you are too tired for the descent in the evening, either the train or the Eiger Express will take you back to Grindelwald.
