One week of snow sports adventure
This 7-day programme for skiers and snowboarders showcases the diversity of the Jungfrau Ski Region. It offers a varied and exciting stay full of snow sports adventures and delightful moments on the slopes.
Day 1 : Ski area Grindelwald - Wengen
The first day starts in Grindelwald, more precisely at the Grindelwald Terminal - the most modern terminal in the Alps with a direct railway connection. From here, the Eiger Express tricable gondola takes you to the Eiger Glacier - the centre of the ski area - in just 15 minutes. With 103 kilometres of slopes, Grindelwald-Wengen is the largest ski area in the region.
At 2,333 metres above sea level, the Eiger Glacier station is the highest point in the ski area and blue, red or black slopes take you from here to Kleine Scheidegg - with the world-famous Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau triumvirate always in view. Kleine Scheidegg is the ideal starting point for discovering both easy and more challenging slopes.
The ski area is ideally connected, so you can also enjoy the afternoon on the other side of the mountain in the Männlichen area and discover more slopes, restaurants and snow bars.
You can return to Grindelwald either on the valley run or with the 10-seater gondola from Männlichen, which will take you back to the terminal in comfort.
Day 2: Ski area Grindelwald – First
The second day of skiing also starts in Grindelwald, but on the other side of the village. The First cable car takes you comfortably to the Grindelwald-First ski area in just under half an hour. Here, 56 kilometres of slopes and a snow park await you, and it is not without reason that this ski area is also known as a freestyle Eldorado.
There is also plenty to experience off-piste if you need a break from skiing. The First Cliff Walk is a circular summit trail at lofty heights at the First mountain station, the highlight of which is a viewing platform that extends 45 metres into the void. Thrills and breathtaking views guaranteed!
If you need even more adrenalin, we recommend a flight with the First Glider or the First Flyer. Both activities are included in the ski pass, so there are no additional costs.
End your day's skiing with the descent into the valley and a stop at the Bus Stop Bar. The bar in the vintage bus guarantees an unmistakable atmosphere and the best hot mojito.
Day 3: Ski area Mürren - Schilthorn
The third day of skiing starts in Stechelberg, where the Schilthorn cable car takes you to the Mürren-Schilthorn ski area. This extends between 1,600 and almost 3,000 metres above sea level and is therefore considered to be particularly snow-sure.
The best way to start the day is with a trip to the very top - to the Schilthorn - Piz Gloria. This trip is included in the ski pass. There you can enjoy a light snack or a hearty brunch before the day's skiing really gets going.
The ski area offers around 50 kilometres of perfectly groomed slopes for every winter sports level.
For brave and experienced skiers, we recommend slope no. 9 - the Direttissima. This slope is 400 metres long and has a gradient of 88 per cent!
However, the ski area also offers gently sloping slopes and practice areas for inexperienced winter sports enthusiasts.
For the perfect end to the day, enjoy an après-ski drink or a delicious fondue or raclette on one of the many sun terraces in Mürren.
Day 4: Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe & Velogemel
In the Jungfrau ski region, there is also plenty to discover off-piste, so leave your skis at the hotel or in your holiday apartment today. The day starts again at the Grindelwald terminal, where the Eiger Express takes you to the Eiger Glacier station. Here you change to the Jungfrau Railway - a construction of the century. The route leads through a seven-kilometre tunnel through the Eiger and Mönch to the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe. At 3,545 metres above sea level, the terminus is the highest railway station in Europe.
Here you can visit the Ice Palace, enjoy a fantastic view of the Aletsch Glacier or discover the Snow Fun Park. Before you leave the Jungfraujoch behind you, a meal awaits you in one of the restaurants.
Re-energised, you board the train back to the Eiger Glacier and on to Kleine Scheidegg. A fast-paced adventure awaits you here: a ride on a Velogemel.
A Velogemel is a type of snow bike that functions as a sledge and was invented in Grindelwald - an exclusive experience. In good snow conditions, the slope leads all the way to Grindelwald, otherwise the train will take you back to the village. The Velogemel can be returned at the railway station.
Day 5: Ski area Meiringen - Hasliberg
Today starts in Meiringen, where the valley station of the Meiringen-Hasliberg mountain railway is located. The cable car takes you to Hasliberg Reuti in just a few minutes and the gondola lift takes you right into the centre of the ski area. At the terminus on the Alpen tower, a breathtaking 360-degree view of over 400 mountain peaks and the turquoise-coloured Lake Brienz awaits you - the Panorama Restaurant is the perfect place for your morning coffee.
The ski area offers 60 kilometres of slopes and is perfect for families with children with its wide and gently sloping slopes. In the huge ‘Skihäsliland’ practice area, even the little ones can learn their first turns in the snow.
Slope 23 takes you back to Hasliberg Reuti, where you can enjoy an après-ski drink right next to the valley station before the cable car takes you back to Meiringen.
Day 6: Grindelwald-Wengen ski area & boat trip on Lake Brienz
The Grindelwald-Wengen ski area is big enough to spend a second day there and still discover new slopes. Why not conquer the original route of the infamous Lauberhorn descent? However, this tip is only for experienced skiers.
The afternoon is perfect for a trip to the Interlaken region. The Bernese Oberland Railway takes you from Grindelwald Terminal to Interlaken West, where the boat landing stage is located, in just under half an hour. The boats on Lake Thun also operate in winter, so you can enjoy a winter cruise from Interlaken to Thun. The medieval town on Lake Thun is the perfect place to round off an adventurous day in a cosy atmosphere before the train takes you back to Grindelwald.
Day 7: One last day of skiing in the Jungfrau Region
On the last day of your stay in the Jungfrau Region, you are spoilt for choice: one destination, four ski areas. This is not an easy decision to make. Now it's up to you to visit your favourite ski area again on the last day before you leave.
The Jungfrau Region also has plenty to offer beyond the ski slopes: From mountain excursions to the Jochfraujoch or the Schilthorn, winter hiking, snowshoeing or wellness: the Jungfrau Region offers the right activity for your wishes.
