Alpine Herb Restaurant Bären

Our cuisine is inspired by the Alpine flora and is based on fresh, seasonal produce from the region. With care and creativity, we reinterpret traditional dishes and bring the diversity of Alpine herbs to the table. We place great emphasis on quality.
Preserving, foraging and fermenting have always been part of life at the Bären. We gather herbs and mushrooms around Wengen and work closely with local producers. Our cuisine follows nature’s natural cycle. ‘Sustainable, honest and authentic’. All dishes are prepared entirely on site from raw ingredients in accordance with the criteria of the ‘Fait Maison’ label.
The bright room with its large windows, or the lovely sun terrace in summer, creates an open atmosphere with views of the mountains and the Jungfrau. Classic Swiss cuisine meets modern influences and subtle international touches here.
Our creativity is also evident in our drinks: homemade concoctions based on herbs, flowers and fermentation ensure moments of special indulgence. The ‘Magic Wild Mallow Gin’, made from wild mallows, delights with its colour-changing properties. Equally popular are non-alcoholic creations such as beetroot water kefir, kombucha, Alpine herb syrups and shrubs, or our aromatic woodruff tea from the forests of Wengen.
Around 85% of our wine list consists of Swiss wines. We source many of these directly from the winemakers, whom we know personally, as well as their vineyards. As a partner of “Wasser für Wasser”, we are also committed to the responsible use of resources.
